Innovation Productions have completed a technically sophisticated installation project at Wakefield WX, Involving full Lighting, Sound, Video and Staging.
Innovation took care of the final design stages of the project and managed the full installation and commissioning.
About WX
WX Wakefield (often just called “WX”) is a modern live events and entertainment venue in the city of Wakefield.
Think of it as a flexible creative playground rather than a traditional theatre. It’s designed to host a wide mix of events, including:
- 🎤 Live music gigs and concerts
- 🎧 Club nights and DJ events
- 🎭 Performances and cultural shows
- 🎬 Film screenings and creative events
- 🎪 Experimental or immersive productions
WX is built as a multi-format venue, meaning the space can be reconfigured depending on the event. One night it might feel like an intimate gig space, the next like a full-scale club or exhibition environment. It’s also part of Wakefield’s push to grow its night-time economy and creative scene, giving both touring artists and local promoters a professional, adaptable space.
Project Details
Lighting - Full Entertainment Lighting system, internally and externally. Comprising of over 140 LED Colour changing fixtures within the building an 147 LED Tube fittings externally. All with individual control via a Chamsys Control system. Energy efficiency is preserved through the use of DMX controllable relays that can isolated equipment when not in use.
Sound - Controlled Via the powerful Yamaha MRX7 DSP Audio Processor the buildings audio system can be controller from an IPAD, The venue has Martin Audio CCD Speakers distributed across the main hall space, along with Cloud Ceiling and Surface speakers in meeting rooms, bar and beverage areas as well as outside of the building. A dante audio network is used to distribute audio around the large space and for connection of added equipment into the system.
Video - The Venue has 5 large Panasonic video projectors within the main hall and a number of large 75inch Screens through the space. These are all linked via a Kramer Matrix to along routing of video throughout the building. The projection can be used to support conference and events or used as a living gallery of images on the venues walls. Nova Star media players are installed to provide day to day content and Daylight Screens are installed in the buildings windows to provide advertising. The Venue also features AI tracking PTZ video cameras, this enables operator free imag content to be placed on screen.
